Today, we know unequivocally that strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence: unconsciousness may occur within seconds and death within minutes. It is an ultimate in power and control here the batterer can demonstrate control over the victims next breath; having devastating psychological effects or a potentially fatal outcome.

During this presentation, we will discuss lessons learned, best practices, and resources available for family violence; as well as assessing and understanding the level and risk of lethality in cases involving strangulation. This training is most appropriate for Law Enforcement, Healthcare Professionals, Department of Human Services, and Family Violence Professionals/Advocates. Enrollment for this training is limited.
